I picked Gill up at 7:30 and we headed off to the promise land, Kelsey, and home of the Flordian LMB.  We bs'ed all the way there and I learned a good deal about his service to our country.  When we arrived it was 82 and no wind or cloud cover.  I put him in the revo as he said he really enjoyed that yak at an event we held earlier at Quarry Lakes.  I show him a few techniques  using the senkos for LMB  then we got saddled up and went off.   The wind picked up so I showed him how to drift fish in a kayak and then we moved to an area by the orange buoy where last June Racin Rob and I had scored several LMB .   The wind really came up and we got separated on our drifts.  I was about to move when a heard Gill yell,  come over here  and bring the camera. I looked up and his rod was bendo and taking line.  I told him not to lift the fish out of the water and play him.  He was really stoked but never tried to get the bass in his yak.  We netted the bass, took several pictures and then he released him unharmed.  He was jazzed.  He wanted to troll so I put on a crawdad pattern and he drug that all over for about an hour then we called it. He expressed interest in going to the ocean for rf.  I think he could do tc on a calm day.   Gill is Viet Nam vet who has been awarded three purple hearts. The first was for taking a bullet through the arm.  They pitched him up and sent him back into the field.   The second was for being hit with a booby trap along a trail and again they patched him up and sent him back.  The third came when he was just two weeks short of being discharged and he survived a rocket attack.  They sent him home after that.  He is a true hero in my book and it was a privilege to spend some time with him.
