Folks:

Do any of you have any online sources for getting those little elastic bands used to hold Herinngs onto Cable Baiting hooks. I have not been able to locate any? They are small little bands that are slipped over the head of the herring that helps secure the herring onto the hook.

Happy to send photos of the bands if more granular info is needed.

Many thanks,
Russ

They had them at fisherman's warehouse in Sacramento.

Thanks Mudshark, will look into that, and maybe they have an online Store, issue is I am loathe to drive all the way to Sac for $5 of rubber bands.

Below is an image of the rig with the little rubber band.

I would check a beauty supply place. They look like the same little rubbers bands they use for braids and dreds. If not then a dental supply and see if bands for braces would work.

orthodontic rubber bands, get them on amazon for cheap, most likely ebay as well as just about a million places on the net.

I went to Target & bought small, clear, hair tie bands.  They are small enough to circle over & CHEAP!

I use these to hold frozen bait and grass shrimp when I used to sturgeon fish - good for catfishing applications as well

Those are available from your dentist.  They are used for braces.  Otherwise, Outdoor Pro Shop has them.  They are even in the same package my dental hygienist gave mine to me in!!  About $2 or $3 for a couple dozen at OPS.
