Dan Blanton and Ken Hanley (local big game fly fishers in case you guys haven't heard of them) told me that 'Macks' are a kick on a 5-weight fly rod and streamers. They even sometimes chum them up. I am trying to figure out how to find a way to take one along on the kayak jsut in case an opportunity presents itself.
