there's a river monsters episode on these fish. I think they can also get drunk on fermented fruit that falls into the water.

and they do get huge. The aquarium in New Orleans had a couple that went 50# or so.

well, if you start out fishing with the first one, you'll likely end up having to use the second one.

If fitted with mouth-guards and taught to aim a bit higher I'll bet lots of guys will 'fish' for them.   

You can also catch them on topwater using Balls-a-wood

For sure, I was thinking a jerkbait, liberally slathered up with lunker sauce. Or perhaps an inflated worm cured in pautzkes balls o fire.

When I caught my first ling cod last year I dropped the bugger right into my crotch, needless to say I almost pooped my wetsuit.  Luckily I was able to grab him up quick and move him.  When I got home and told my wife, she went on line immediately and bought me a boga grip.
