I just purchased my first kayak primarily for river and lake fishing last year and was surprised to find such a great site dedicated primarily to Central and Northern california Yak Fishermen.
There is so much good info here (as you all know) and it's local!
I'm getting to know the 10' SINK I got last summer and am hoping to upgrade to something in the 13' and up range for the ocean (though I can see this passion being never ending :smt001)
I mostly fish the lakes and rivers in Mendocino Cty and know how much I enjoy reports, so hopefully I'll be adding some soon.

Good Luck Out There!

WTTM!
As soon as you get comfy with that SIK you'll want to hit the ocean on a SOT.
Start saving now.  :smt003
Tons of info here and tons of hook ups.
Mendo Cty...yea, you'll be hittin' the salt in no time.

Thanks guys. I'm definitely looking forward to getting in the salt, done some diving in the past, and plenty of surf and pier fishing, but can't imagine the satisfaction of pulling a ling or a few rock out to put on the table.

Consider hanging out at GS7 - too late to enter for this year, but you'll get lots of exposure to the salty madness.   :smt003

NightYak, WTTM.....get ahold of Mako1, he's the fishing fool at Lake Mendocino for the Stripers. Your 10 footer will work on the ocean, nice calm day. I started out on the ocean on a 8 foot malibu yak, that was a few years ago. I've since moved on to a Hobie Outback, love the mirage drive. Get ahold of me when you're ready to head out on the ocean, I'm always fishing out of Shelter Cove.

@Matt, yep, Broiler is still in business, probably will be for years as its so well known.

Thanks Pete I definitely will. I've been escaping the heat and doing some coastal rockfishing off Fort Bragg and Point Arena with some success, although the Lings seem to spit me out or break me off right at the shore. They like the BH swimbaits and can be found in 6-10 ft!
