Hey Y'all,

I'm looking for a nice place to trailer campin' mid/late August. Full hook ups are always nice but dry is ok too. Would really like to be on or really near easy swimmable (and fishable) freshwater. Trying to get the wife and 6 yo daughter into kayaking/kayak fishing. Should be within 4 hrs of Santa Rosa. Trailer is small and truck is big so we can go just about anywhere most trailers can go.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
ruben

Lake Amador has full hook up sites.  I took my rv there and liked it.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Mid to late August you say.  That's gonna be a hot time of year for anything but alpine lakes.  I'd recommend heading up 88 to Silver Lake, Caple's Lake, Blue Lakes, etc.  but I don't know they are within 4 hours of Santa Rosa or not.  Most lakes are going to start being pulled down pretty low as well, leaving the 'brown ring' around the lake between water and tree line.  I'd recommend the Crystal Basin area; Ice House/Union Valley/Loon, but those lakes have been hammered hard this summer with campers.  It's been way too crowded and too many power boats.  Wait...  maybe you can get a reservation into Gerle Reservoir.  It's small, kept full as a holding lake for a power house and no motors allowed.

You can plug in your dates to make reservation on line.

I've fished this lake and it's pretty fun.  It's a big hit for swimming with a large area of shallow water within a short stroll from the campground and an island to swim and play on too.
