River Salmon scent?

When fishing the Sacramento area (not just the river) for the fall salmon run, which scent do you guys like to use to smear/dip/spray your artificial baits with? And do you folks use any sardine scraps any bait added to your jigs or spinners? Thanks in advance!

Sardine wrap with sardine scent. Herring, sardine, krill all work, but other guys here have much more luck than I do for salmon.

i never heard of anyone using scent on a spinner. i have always had really good success just with a regular spinner. i know when people run the K-17 kwikfish they run the sardine wrap. from my understanding is when salmon get into the freshwater their throats close up cannot feed so when they strike it is out of aggression. i dont know if scent has anything to do with why they actually strike. it might make sense that if when they bite it they will hold on longer if the scent is that of the fish they though it was and cause them to hold on longer. correct me if i am wrong.
A guy that i fish with regularly doesnt use sent on his spinners and he caught 28 last year from the bank... so i dont think that the sent has much to do with it... as far as spinners go, that is a pretty good number for one person and like i said no scent was used.. but like i said correct me if i am wrong.
