I have been reading a little about the America's Cup sailing race which start up shortly, and the thought occurred to me, could this event screw with the salmon season?  One article reported that parts of the bay will be closed off, and shipping lanes will be adjusted so as not to interfere witht he races?  Anyone have details on what, when and where?

The races will be held along the City Front and the boat storage is around near the Bay Bridge, so they get towed up from there.  During one of last year's practice runs, they had the closed off area to about a mile out from the City front.
The biggest problem will be the land traffic and moving anywhere in the north end of the City, and probably some congestion on the freeways leading to it.

You might be able to find out more details in Lectronic Latitude (e-version of Latitude 38, the Bay Area based, world-wide read sailing/cruising magazine, or Google America's Cup- they have a lot of great photos and details.
I don't fish up there, but I can't see how it's going to take place near any salmon grounds.

AC is all inside the bay - well mostly anyway - so it won't mess with the salmon season.

The trolling speed of an AC boat is too fast to be effective for salmon fishing.  They won't take our fish....   :smt003

Closed off areas, dumb ass sailors drinking way to much and being on the water. road congestion, can be problems.  I am not going ot say it will or it won't just something to think about.
