When I saw the light I was Ab diving in 2006 and I passed a guy pulling his yak out of the newly opened point arena area with a huge Ling in his boat, and I told my self
Right there I'm buying a kayak and I'm going to get after it, I never looked back.
I lurked, I read, and asked a lot of questions.all of what you have been and are doing.
The guys that tell you what you need too do to be safe,that's all you need to worry about right now!
I have caught fish in the salt on a rusty wrench with a hook in it!
You want to practice? Make sure you can flip and get in your boat in all weather conditions, with out freaking out! Keep calm and kayak on!

Wish I have time to join you but I've been pretty busy & haven't been on the kayak over a month now...
Nothing wrong w/ getting more comfortable otw, I think.
It's good to practice self rescue, but also good to be a good paddler too.

The wisest kayak fisherman I know always said "a kayaker first & a fisherman second"!

yeah i will get back to you. i dont see that being an issue though. although that will be gross hot out there
