10 years ago my car was totaled when an uninsured driver T-boned me. I was glad I had uninsured coverage then.

UPDATE

For some reason, I decided to google the person's name and found out he is currently detained right now in Hayward as an inmate. He had previous drug charges against him back in Miami 2 years ago and was picked up again last Feb for DUI with bodily injury. What a fucking SCUM! I do believe in harsher punishment against these type of people. They don't learn while we the tax payers suffer. Even if I win a case against him in the future, there'd be no way to collect as I don't  think he'd hold a job. So , I guess just like you guys said - lesson learned and just move on. Thank you all. That's why I cherished NCKA so much. You guys are the best!!

Hi Herb....

It sucks, I know.  But I couldn't help but consider some of the alternatives.  Putting myself in your position....what if his vehicle had jumped the divider or otherwise caused you more property or personal injury.

You'd be sitting here right now WISHING you were only out $500.

I'm grateful you are OK despite the scumbag driver.  Guys like that create their own punishment.

In the end it's an inexpensive lesson.

Lets say,If you did sue him successfully, and he somehow managed to pay you (Highly doubtful I know) I would be wondering from who or what did he have to steel for the money?  As mentioned, him holding gainful employment is highly suspect.  Would you really need to have any contact with this individual?  I wouldn't!
