Doran Crab/ Salmon/ Halibut troll midday Wednesday 6/26

Plan on launching 1:30-2 and dropping a few pots on the way out to the bouy. Depending on weather might try to troll out a few miles for a  go at salmon or if winds/swell are rough, bounce around for a halibut troll.

Good luck, man! Let us know how you do.

Do you ever launch from Campbell Cove? Or do you find it quicker/easier to launch from Doran?

what is the launch like at Doran? I have only a few ocean kayak trips under my belt and am pretty green.  Never launched into breakers. the conditions look pretty good.

I usually launch at Doran with the ease of entry at the dock and jetty for the yak. I tend to spring for the annual pass and it is way worth it. My friend is going fishing in the morning out of bodega and I should know tomorrow mid day where the fish are for the afternoon!

On most days Doran is just about the easiest launch there is. Out by the buoy is a different matter but tomorrow should be a go.

damn work.  bummed I missed this one.  on another note I have launched out of Doran it is a great spot for a stress free lanuch / landing.  I always confuse dillon and doran beach.   :smt044

You make it out? Sounds like lots of fish caught yesterday around the whistle buoy.

Whistle buoy or bell/gong buoy? The whistle buoy is near 17.1/3.8, right? About 1 mile SW of the tip of the Head?

Thanks for scouting. I just might head out there on July 4th if weather allows.

We made it out to the whistle buoy, marked a few bait balls with some singles but nothing took. Only fish in 60-80 FOW. Definitely want to make it out further with launching earlier. The whales giving a wave made the day!
