Good afternoon NCKA!

My name is JR and I just signed up  a couple of days ago. I am in the market to purchase my first kayak but still in the "researching phase". My cousin recommended this site and told me of all the vast information relating to fishing in general. My only kayaking experience was in the Eastern Caribbean islands on an old SOT and a crappy paddle (left a very sour taste in my mouth) I was on a excursion and guide there wasn't great. I recently stumbled upon fishing from a yak on YouTube and have been addicted to reading/researching about it ever since. This passed weekend I rented a 2012 Tarpon 140 and a 2013 Ride 135 (w/ high 3.0 seat) and quickly fell in love with Ride. I looked at some of the threads here and noticed OKs were greatly favored, unfortunately I didn't have enough time to give any of them a try (still open to recommendations). Anyways I look forward to chatting with all of you and learning the art of yak fishing and passing on the information to next "new" generation.

For those looking to give boat advice:

Physical stats:
6ft 185 pounds

Overall use:
I'm looking for a well rounded boat 11.5 - 13.5 feet (rivers/lakes and in the future oceans)

That's all I have for now, looking forward to the new relationships. Fish on!  :smt001

How was the frog bite?  :smt002
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Welcome. Come over to the cancer fund raiser at Half Moon Bay on Saturday and get a chance to win a kayak for the price of a few raffle tickets.

@TheDudeAbides

It was amazing! I never fished for Largemouth before or even top water - but when it was slammed pretty sure it was the most fishing excitement I ever experienced! thanks for all the tips and help  :smt001

Topwater bite is silly-exciting, one of my favorite things in the world is the tooth-marks on my favorite black-silver topwater popper :smt003

Welcome to NCKA, sounds like you're taking the right steps and learning as much as you can.  Demo as many boats as possible to find one that has that right fit and feel.  :smt001

Almost all yaks will be represented this coming Saturday at the pig event in half moon bay.  Best way to see em all rigged and most, if not all, will let you try em!  Great event & great people.
