Yesterday I went in a private boat out of Santa Cruz and hooked 3 kings and 2 silvers. One king at 4 lbs. Another at 16. And the final guy we waited til 2pm for.....a 36 POUNDER! I still am stoked from it! I've got some pictures but I haven't loaded them up yet. I'll get on that tomorrow. Didn't measure his length (tired and forgot  :smt013 ) but did weigh him. Big fish are out there. Just too far out for us to get by kayak. A short ride from the harbor towards west soquel hole will do it if you can rent a skiff for the day.

If you head out from the harbor it actually would probably be within range for Bluekayak.

Here's a shot. The rest my mom was shooting in macro mode and so they didn't come out at all  :fire

And another.

That is some good eats right there.

I was noticing how beautifully focused that string right up next to the lens was, then read the macro thing.....  :smt003

Nice job on the fish, what did you get it on?

This guy hit a watermelon apex. We trolled watermelon apex, bait on rotators, and hoochies and I'm pretty sure all got at least one hit. We chased the bait balls from about 150 FOW to 275 and moved lines up and down all day from 60-180 feet. I think this guy hit at 120. Not sure though. It was a beautiful day with bait busting on the surface ALL day scattered up. You could see the mackerel go under the boat chasing them. I even saw a silver flash a tail for some. If you get on the VHF ppl call out all day what depth they caught one at and then we just change depths to get one in that range.

Nice Aaron,

if this keeps up I'm going to have to break down and take the power boat out. But, have to try a few more times from the Kayak :smt003

Nice fish.  It looks like you'll need a bigger ice chest.

Good job

Awesome Aaron.

Todd at Bayside weighed in a 50.2 pound king today. A few 40+ brought in this week.

These are trophy sized kings out here right now!
