Are you referring to the telscopic BoatLoader:

In your area- REI, Sports Authority and Mel Cotton's should have them, plus many online.

Okie-fix-it style:  1/2 galvanized pipe fits in there pretty snugly, add one of those things that fit on the pipe and have four holes in a flat surface for screw holes -like you'd use to make a clothes pole, then wrap the end with a rag and duct tape - so your yak doesn't get gouged or slide off the end. You can even add a thin rope to the outside end to tie to your rack for when you are trying to use it in an area where your car is on a sideways slope - so the pipe doesn't slide out with your yak on it.

Make sure the seal between the BoatLoader bar and your crossbars is tight. If water gets inside your crossbar, it will start rusting on the inside. Then the Boatloader bar will be stuck. I learned this the hard way. :smt011
