Met up with SteveS this morning at around 7:00 to fish Muir.

No fish for either of us.  We trolled out of the cove and to the north a couple miles, then looped around and headed back toward the cove.  There were some nice big bait balls just on the outer edge of the cove that I wound up mooching throuh for the last hour or so.  Nothing.

Wind was light with a confused swell early... there was just enough of a south swell mixing with the NW swell to prevent me from relaxing.  Seemed that around 9 or so the south swell died and it was more comfortable out there.

There were a couple other boats working outside of Muir but I never saw any nets.

Usually when you see those big haystacks of bait, if there are salmon feeding you'll see gaps and streaks through the haystacks, but I did not see any of those types of marks.

Landed back on the main beach.  Steve had the shore break all but beat until he got clipped by a small breaker and dumped pretty much right on the beach.  Didn't really  lose any gear though, so that was good.  I enjoyed an uneventful landing.

Looks like we should have hit Dux with the reports from Coastside today... oh well.

was a good day none the less...the signs are there, just no fish YET.
I'm feeling a little ill today, and with the weather report for sunday, just might be sick on monday and give Dux a try....

My dump was hilarious...just about to step out of the yak, when it stops suddenly sideways!  Yep, stuck on the bottom, Next little ankle slapper, dumps me over. Too funny.

Gear worked fine.  This was the first time I've used my new salmon rod, Lamiglas ICG 1082DR fiberglass blank (9', 2pc, 15-30# line).  Trolled an FBR with 1# ball on my new rod with 30# spectra and Diawa Sealine SG17LCA linecounter reel.  It all  really seemed to work well together... but I never got to give it a true test by actually catching anything  :smt012.  But the first run worked well.

Also, I can't tell you how much extra confidence it gives you on a surf landing to be able to stuff literally all of your gear below decks on the Marauder.   This was the first time in the Ocean with the Marauder as well (only in the bay until now).

maybe you can test your setup by trolling over a few reefs. seems a great way to find the lings.  :smt004

I have to agree with the feeling of confidence that comes from being able to stow.

I landed safely on saturday, but had to get down the coast 40 yards to a creek mouth and while towing
my yak behind me in the surf, it flipped, but nothing lost cause everything stowed. okay, I did lose
one pretied 40lb leader,  :smt005
