So made it out this morning around 7:30 by myself and headed to the boat ramp and met up with Lucas aka wetbehindtheears and we shot across the lake and started throwing plastic for bass.  I was having equipment issues and set my rod down and it fell overboard (just removed float last night) and sank to the bottom.  After several minutes I was able to snag it with my second rod or I would have been swimming down to grab it. This was not the way I invisoned this day starting to say the least...  So with the rod back on the board we headed back inot some of the channels and didn't find any fishies.  We decided to take a trip up the river towards the dam and see what was up.  There was no watter being let out of folsom lake so it was a pretty easy paddle up as there was zero current.

After making our way back to the beach area we dumped our gear on shore and played in the water.  Lucas rolled his new ride 135 like a champ and was able to get back in all by himself the very first try.  It wasn't pretty but he did it...  After a couple more tries he had it down and was even able to stand up pretty well.  He did an awesome job and I would feel comfortable going out on the salt on a nice day with him.  He's a pretty cool cat too.

The real kicker was my lifeproof case failed and my phone took a crap. I guess it's not jamesproof so now I need to see if the rice trick will work or if I'm eligible for an upgrade.

All in all it was a good day we didn't really chill as it was just the two of us with a 12 of silver bullets and two packs of brats.  Was hoping to see more people out there.

Sounds like a good time still.  I think a lot of us are swamped with graduation type stuff.  I know I have been to parties the last few weekends, have 3 this weekend, and at least 4 next weekend!

This.
I plan on doing some practice at the fresh Kats tourney next weekend. It's gonna be 102 so I may not want to get back out of the water haha

Thanks Rider for showing me whats up with the self rescue, feel much more confident and wouldn't mind making out to some calmer salt for my first go at it. I told the wife about next weekend... she didn't say no right off the bat so that is always a plus haha. so i will be keeping in contact with you about that.

thanks again, this is something that i really wanted to get down and i think i got it.
I truly appreciate your time.

Nice work James.

I would have shit my pants in my wetsuit if I lost my rod like that. Good thing you snagged it back up! And good thing you tested out that dry bag in fresh water than salt. You can maybe salvage the phone :smt009

Bummed i couldnt make it out there with you guys. I had all of my stuff ready to go on Friday night then Saturday night my wife and I had a wedding to get to and you know how that goes.. especially when they had a wedding after party at a suite at Thunder Valley.. Anyway, i told you before at the port how much I want to get setup for the ocean and I definitely need the help with self recovery so next time I am going for sure!
