My paddleboard was getting too cumbersome to rig up every time (too many bungees, ropes and 2x4s) and it wasn't really great for long distance paddles. It didn't take long for me decide I needed something built for larger water and more gear. Easy sell to my fiance as she also wanted one for touring/boat camping. We now have 2 awesome new Ocean Kayaks - Venus 11 for her, Trident 13 for me.

The Venus came from REI and Adventure Sports got me a sweet deal on a factory seconds Trident (well worth the drive to Oakley). Both have been on the water and we love the way they handle. During my demo paddle at the Oakley marina, I was trying to see what I could get away with while still staying on the kayak. This involved acting out an imaginary fight with a very large fish (a guy can dream - I was just making sure I could handle that 100lb+ tuna when the time came). Considering I didn't have any fishing gear, what people saw was a guy in a kayak flailing his arms and legs about. and splashing around in 5ft of water for no apparent reason.
I can't wait to meet NCKA OTW and get my first fish on it :)

Good choices there.  I think the T13 is the best all round paddle fishing kayak.

LMFAO!!!  I would have loved to have witnessed this.  :smt005    And hey, did you land that fish?  If so, we need pictures.  Around here, no pictures means it never happened!  :smt044

Look forward to meeting you on the water.

Thanks for the replies, everyone :) I've got a few paddle trips planned for the long weekend but the official ocean debut of the kayaks will be at PIF 2013!! I can't think of a better time, place or company of people with whom to anoint a new fishing vessel.
The dogs liked them fine when they were in the living room, I'm not sure if my two will take too well to them once OTW :) I'm planning on finding out inside the safety of the Berkeley marina this weekend - I see a lot more flailing and splashing in my future  :smt003
I've started rigging it out and am trying to keep it down to the essentials. Beginning with pool noodles in the hull, QRAS, anchor trolley, full bungie conversion a la Howard McKim and a Plano behind the seat with a couple of rod holders. Fishfinder will go in next and I've started doing some research on it and mounting options. I've already got personal safety equipment from my SUPing and enough fishing gear to start off so I can focus on the kayak.

Put a piece of glass over them and they'll double as a coffee table

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
