Hey there! New to the site. Per my introduction post, here is the promised file. More to come soon, happy to take requests for future development.

As-is, I know this file to be compatible with Garmin's "Mapsource" software. Just load it up, and xfer to your device. Myself and my Dad (Raydon) use GPSmap 60csx units and this is the device I used while developing the map.

I will be looking into making it cross-compatible with other devices if possible - as of this point I have yet to actually delve into file types or export options with Mapsource.

Feel free to tweak as you may.

Current MPA's included - Oregon border to just south of the SF Bay.

Will be adding the rest of the MPA's in the following months. Hope you like it! Link below.

each MPA is outlined in Magenta - with blue flags outlining the perimeter. Green/red flags indicate allowances or prohibitions. Clicking on the green/red flags will bring up the actual policy as outlined for that specific MPA.

Also included: protected shorelines, "no-fly" zones and some other items that I can't remember at this point. But fear not, all you have to do is load it up, and click the icons for a description of the area you are in. PM me if you have any questions.

***recommend use of memory card to limit the amount of internal memory used from GPS.***

cool! development is going to be a little on the slow side.. my shop is entering fast season and I'm also swamped with construction work right now - but I will post anything that I do in the future.

please provide feedback if anyone has suggestions/improvements. happy to collaborate.

I've got the same GPS and s/w and cant wait till I have time to play with this.  I tried doing somewhat of the same thing but never figured out how to draw the lines between the points  :smt044  What would be really cool is if I can convert the data to use on my Lowrance FF.  Well, that is if I can ever get the card reader to work...

Ok, after a bit of research I've found that most modern GPS units should have the ability to receive .gpx format files.

I do have the ability to make the file .gpx, and have done so here:  https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5o0Ja9IEA6SVDRrZ2ZnSXJUUUk/edit?usp=sharing

If for some reason your unit will not accept the file, send me your gps info and I'll try to find a workaround for you.

Shouldn't be too complicated.

I have a garmin 60cx.  I have the MLPA areas marked off same as you, but when I look at them, I cannot see where my current position is
