After seeing the new Lowrance scupper transducer mount work so well on Jackson Kayak, a customer of mine decided to figure out a cheap way to do this for other fish finders. In this case we installed a Garmin transducer.

Step 1: Use an 8" piece of electrical grade PVC pipe with threads on one end. Cut the pipe so the threads would just stick up above the deck and the transducer is just tucked into the scupper so it wouldn't drag.

Step 2: Drill a 1/4" hole in the pipe and bolt the transducer to it. The wire runs right through the pipe.

Step 3: Cut a piece of pool noodle to fit around the pipe. This keeps the system snug in the scupper hole.

Step 4: Next install the electrical deck plate to on the top of the scupper. Ours came with a nice foam gasket that helped keep the system quiet and clean.

Thats it! Less than $20 for a super easy clean install for any Jackson Kayak. The expenive part is buying the Jackson.  :smt003 It works great, and its easy to take apart and clean.

We installed an eyebrow fitting to run the wire through and backed it up with some silicone.

So there you have it. Enjoy  :smt006

I did something pretty similar a while back on my Hobie Outback, so nice getting accurate water temps.

Thanks for posting Dan. Sweet setup and it's so simple. I have all those parts in the garage too.
What kind of connector is that you're using for the transducer wire?

Thanks for the props. I've received a lot of good feedback about this install, so I started stocking the parts to do these installs for customers.

I bought a new fish finder and I remembered how clean Dan's install was. I decided to go the same route only i had to do a few changes. I went with the square electrical deck plate in brown (w/touch of black spray paint) to match my desert camo Cuda. Also, the Lowrance 4x DSI transducer connector is far to big to fit through the holes on the deck plate. I had to whip out the Dremel and make a square hole large enough to feed the transducer cable through. I figured this hole on the deck plate would also aid in water draining. After taking it out yesterday on the American, I'm convinced that this will last. Everything else done was pretty much the same as the one pictured above. Thanks to Dan at Headwaters for the inspiration.

Nice job!! You can add a cable clamp to the screw on your front hatch strap that will hold the cable tight where it runs up under your hatch

Thanks man. I actually used a couple tiny zip ties for that and it worked great. Always finding a reason to use zip ties... :headbang:
