I was up at Lake Sonoma this weekend for a friend's bday camping trip and was able to land a few bass while having limited time on the water.

After cooking the camp breakfast Saturday morning a was finally able to get on the water between 10:30-11.  After working some shady coves with shad type baits I headed over to the point off the marina launch which appeared to be very brushy/bassy. After a few unsuccesful cast the wind had run me up into the brush and a noticed a dead crawdad larvae on the shoreline.  I decided to switch bait up to some watermelon brush crawlers.  On my second cast I nailed a 2lb bass.  I caught 2 more smaller bass and saw a teenager catch a small fish (not sure what) nearby.  These fish were all caught around 12:30 which from what I understand is not a good fishing time out on this lake.  Anyhow had a good time camping at the lake but would really like to try the boat in camping in the future.

I went up on the 9th. Targeting Steel Head - Got nothing - got 3 on the 6th, though.  We did get a huge Bluegill - a small (3 lb) bass .. and a stick that we could not tell what it was - got off about 30 feet back.

We tried everything. 2 that got to the boat were on a "Snookie" trout chow fly.  The one that got off was on a Rapala F3 in Rainbow Trout pattern.

Waiting for that Lake or Lake Berryessa to turn on .... anyone hear anything about Berryessa ?
