The first picture is lake aloha right above heather lake used to make a hike in 1 or 2 times year but haven't gone in awhile take a minnow trap next time we caught Brooks up to 17 inch and browns up to 24 inch nonstop brook action with the natural minnows dead or alive caught 50 fish 1 year packed them in the snow kept fresh miss that place.

live bait is a big no no,only tahoe,donner and fallen leaf are they legal and they must be caught in the lake that they are used.I have seen a few lakes where fishing used to be awesome but now nothing because of the introduction of minnows,they eat all the food that the young trout need.

Nice Camp/hike/fish....I know that a trip like that you almost have to plan every hour of your adventure so that you dont take too much or not enough stuff.Sounds and looks :smt007 like it all panned out well and makes the trip that much sweeter when you HOOK into the targets.Thanks for the report and pics!

That's why you should bring a minnow trap catching the natural baitfish,minnows what ever you want to call them from heather lake rangers never had a problem with it and don't forget your wilderness permit and desolation wilderness map  from the ranger station plan to hike 2 to 4 hours depends on you easy to get lost up there be carefull
