Alameda Rockwall 5.5.13

Took a friend out Saturday morning, he borrowed my spare kayak, first time kayak fishing for him he caught this nice 32" halibut on frozen herring. Must have been beginners luck, of course I was skunked, in fact I suggested he switch to frozen herring after I missed the only bite I had all day. 

The water is so murky that's probably the only thing that will catch them. Specially tray herring.

A better question would be does the wind ever NOT pick up at ARW.

Most days wind picks up mid-afternoon, you do not have to go out far and if you stay south down toward crown beach you can always sneak back in through Balena Bay estuary.

One good thing launch is still free.
