Im sure this is answered somewhere else, but just thought of this and did not look anywhere. Just got back from scuba trip and used 16 pounds with a 5 mil suit. I was maybe a pound or two heavy. I weigh 170 or so. Needed to add air to BC past 30-40 feet or sank like a rock. With a 5-7 mil Picasso, how much do you think I will need to free dive?

Thanks, Rob

It depends on individual body structure.  General rule for SCUBA dive up North is around 10% of your body weight using 7 mil wet suit.  For a 5 mil wet suit, I would drop a couple more pounds and start from there.  If you weighted properly, you should float about chin level when holding your breath.

 I'm 59 200lb I use about 25lb of lead. But that's with a one piece closed cell 7mm suit.

Enough to obtain neutral buoyancy Rob. When in the water at vertical the water should come up to the middle of your faceplate. This was the rule that we were taught long ago.

+1

and or 10% of body weight rule +/- to achieve what ravensblack said.
I tend to go alittle on the heavy side for shallower dives.
