There will be staff at the event to do "swabbing" of the inside of your mouth; then it will be taken back to the lab for testing. There is NO criteria for the testing, the hospital its also checking the world donor database also; there just aren't that many filipinos in the bne marrow database...
That's pretty much true for most Asians.

There are several accesses (and parking) to the lake. At some point time, it will be a good idea to post a map to show where the gathering/testing will take place.

Kirk, the water is not THAT scuzzy but I recall they limit what days you can launch your own boat/kayak. I remember Frankfishing catching sunfish there but have never seen anyone else have any luck (from shore).

Heard some GREAT news from my daughter today, the hospital has located several possible donor matches in there database; so we are keeping our fingers crossed!

Also, I want to send a very heart felt thank you to one of our NCKA members for the gracious donation you made. While it was stunned when I found out who the person was, I was not at all surprised. This person has always gave to numerous causes and has always been there to help another brother out! You know I have much love and respect for you even before this act; but now you have the love of my family too! And I trully hope you can make it that day, but I fully understand if you can not. I will honor your request to remain  anonymous; but know that I will never let you forget your generouscity!

Again, thank you from the bottom of our heart!

I'll be there.

I would be honored to have you join us! You are an inspiration to us all!!!

Glen,

Been away from NCKA and kayak fishing.  I'm hoping this year will be different but when I saw this post, my heart dropped.  Children should never suffer but they do and all we can do is help where we can my brother.  I'll try and see if we can attend the May 5th event and finally see NCKA people again.  We will pray for Mailyna.

Sometimes... the most simplest things can bring an overwhelming joy to ones life.

Yesterday, I recieved this in the mail and brought such warmth and happiness to my heart.

Lastly, with the love and support of my dear family and friends, my grand-daughter exceed her $1,500 Goal by almost $1,000 dollars! Thank you and hope to see you next Sunday!

{bump}

Reminder that the Bone Marrow Drive will be this Sunday! If you in the area or close by, hope you can stop by for a quick "swab" test.

We still need to find a donor for her; the 3 preliminary matches did not pan out, using anyone of them would have put a 33% chance of fatality for my grand-daughter.

So our search continues...

I wasn't able to attend, is there a way to be swabbed and matched up for Mailyna  after the event. I did a little online investigation and see there is a fee sometimes involved and multiple databases. If you have sponsorship for testing are you choosing to spend it on Filipino candidates, do they have a higher likelihood of being a match? Wishing you both health and happiness.
