That is a steal for sure!!!  I'm almost done rebuilding mine, but if that had come up a few weeks ago I would have sold mine and got that!  :smt007  Looking forward to trying out trailering the AI though! :smt002

I have carried my AI on the roof racks a couple times and it isn't something I looked forward to loading/unloading by myself.  Then there was the issue of "where do I store it".  Once the trailer can mup for sale, it was a GO.  Now I can leave the yak assembled ... completely assembled; tramps, riggers, rod holders, downrigger, gear - launch ready.  For the few times I need to launch off wheelez, the kayak slides enough off the trailer to allow me to plug in wheels.  Hope to trailer it soon to Don Pedro!

Mine has the 8" wheels.

My experience so far:

Empty:  Drove from the Monterey Bay area to Sacramento to pick it up.  The trailer was, obviously, empty when trailering home.  Empty it bounces ... a lot.  Anything over 55 and the started a bounce/chatter effect so it was a slow drive home.

Loaded:  Drove it, loaded, with my AI, mast & some gear, back up to Sacramento from the Montery Bay area the following weekend and WHAT A DIFFERENCE the 130'ish #'s makes.  70mph no problem.

Tires:  Bought a spare 8" tire/wheel at Wal Mart for about $35 & bolted it to the frame.  I have a HUGE compulsive disorder about checking tires & hubs for heat on a long drive.  I checked it several times on the way home and not even WARM to the touch.  Huge thumbs up!!!!

Trailer Quality:  Overall I like it.  It is LITE.  I can unhook it from my car, loaded, & easily wheel it around the yard.  You could hand launch a kayak at a reasonable launch ramp with this trailer.  I spoke to the manufacturer on the phone because I immediately wanted to add stuff and modify the trailer.  The manufacturer claims they extrude their own aluminum tubing.  It is a very odd size & isn't square.  Cannot find anyone that makes this same size so adding more tubing/frame parts is $15/ft from Trailex.  I wanted to add a support for the mast & a tower/frame to attach an overhead cargo box for gear.  They claim the flex in the frame would destroy any cargo box I attached to the top (because the frame bends/flex while towing).  They CAN do it on the double trailer but not the single (I guess the double uses heavier extrusion or so they claim).  I may bolt a frame above this anyways & try it .... what's the worst that can happen.  There is NO suspension.  The axle is held on with a piece of tire rubber wrapped over the axle & bolted to an aluminum plate/structure.  The, normally, 60# inflated tires are to be inflated to 15psi; thus acting as the "shocks".  Plastic fenders; saves weight & they work.  I will upgrade the lights to LED shortly & add a few extra down the main frame length (since the trailer is about 15' long; I want it to be seen from the side).  After a few hours of adjustment to the trailer to distribute the weight & position of the AI on it, I love the fit & use!!!!  The Hobie cradles work GREAT on this trailer.

Let me know if you want to see any pictures or other details about it.  I like the use of the trailer but I feel the Retail price is a bit high.  I think tubing by Bosch, Item or 80/20 would make for a GREAT trailer at about 1/2 the cost (though it WOULD weight more but be stronger).

I just completed my trailer.   My 67 year old back was creaking when loading my kayak on my car.   The trailer comes unassembled from Harbor Freight.   I bought the 12" wheel version for $221.99. Price for the trailer, spare 12" tire, and tax was $300.00.  Easily assembled.   I replaced the standard short middle tube that holds the hitch with a 2.5" square, 8' piece of tubing to lenghten the trailer for $34.00.   Some 3" black plastic pipe for supports, covered with cheap carpet completed the deal.    My trailer bounced when empty, but in a test drive with the kayak, trailered great.

Have thousands of miles on mine (trailex double) carrying two 120 lb yaks. Many of these miles on nasty dirt roads. No issues other than ripping my fenders off.

Really it's not the cartopping or even transporting it that is difficult.  What i'm looking to do is cut down on setup time.  I've done several one day trips that were 3+ hours each way.  And that extra 30 mins to setup and tear down the AI had been getting to me. If I can transport it mostly assembled, and just toss the gear in once I arrive and pull out on to the water it will make these trips a lot easier for me.
