The absolute best rod hands down I ever bought. OKUMA SST steelie rod. Lands the really big uns, and handles the smaller shad also.

I have abused an Okuma Guide Series rod for years now. All sorts of snags, a few big fish on the salt,  no Problem. Same for a Baidarka and an ultralite Celilo.

That said, I asked at the Manteca FW, and was told they'd been getting quite a few back, so I went with Lamiglas the last time. Maybe Okuma's been having QC probs the last couple years?
