Glad you're OK Al.  Thanks for sharing your experience and welcome to the "AI Hall of Shame"  :smt003

Al  sorry to hear about your ordeal,  I would have stayed a little longer if you had not told me to head in.  I honestly did not
even think you would have had any problems heading back on an ai. I am glad it all worked out

Thanks for sharing the learning experience Al. I think I'd still feel way safer on an AI in those conditions than any other fishing kayak.

Wow that was some scary shit for sure! Allen and I were out in it and it was the worst feeling to paddle like hell and not get anywhere. I must have been paddling for 45 minutes and maybe only went what seemed like a few hundred yards. I was so thankful to see that Allen got towed in and they would be coming back for me :smt003. Next time I will make sure to try and get as close to shore as possible since it looked like it was a little easier to paddle with the wind going over the buildings to allow for an area to paddle. Worst part about it was the fact that my wife and kids were all hanging out at the beach and worried when they couldn't see me with the rest of the crew. :smt009. Thankful everything worked out and learned a valuable lesson on how situations can change very fast down here.

Extreme weather event and kayaks.

Tacking upwind in howling winds on a boat having issues. Yikes.

So much going on at once. Get the tramps in or not. Where to put all the gear. Time is of the essence. How much windier can it get?

Glad things worked out for you Al.

I got there late and before I could even get in the water the weather just got freaky windy.  Someone was looking out for me and made me lazy to get up that early or else I probably would have been stuck out there too.  Lessons learned from Doran's windy conditions made me think twice about going out even with a sail on.
