Looking to fish for rockfish lingcod and maybe a halibut on Saturday morning around the Monterey peninsula.  I was thinking of trying Otter Cove or Lovers for a launch heading out toward Pt. Pinos.  Other options would be San Carlos Beach or MBK.  Stillwater or Monastery beach are also possible.  I am flexible.  I am planning to go early 5-5:30 AM and get home in time to take a load to the dump, noon+/-.  Any an all company is welcome but I will head out alone from Lovers or Otter if no firm plans are set up.

I'll be out there tomorrow, too.  I launched at Coral St beach today and if tomorrow is similar conditions will do so again.   Do you monitor 69? or what color/model yak - I'll probably see you out there.  Blue prowler 13 and yellow paddling jacket.  I'll have another guy with me as well . . .a first timer!

No lings or cabs out there today for me but steady action on blues and olives with a few other types thrown in.  They were hitting the squid and the iron about equally well.

I have a yellow Scrambler and yellow PFD.  I have a VHF but the charger is missing and last week it crapped out as soon as I tried to use it.  I suspect that the charger I used was not high enough voltage.  I will try to charge it with a different charger in hope it will work better this time.  I will monitor 69 if I can.  I will look for you out there in any case.  Is the launch as Coral street better than Lovers or Otter?  Is it a shorter carry?

Today was my first time launching at Coral St but I know the spot well.  When conditions are good it will be my choice for that area because it's a way shorter carry and no stairs as well as being closer to where I like to fish.  But it's pretty exposed and there are a lot of boilers as well as exposed rocks.  Today it was no problem but I wouldn't do it if there were waves breaking.  It's really close to Otter Cove . .so if it's not good can just turn back and launch from Otter.  Hope to see you out there.  My friend just bailed on me so let me know if you want to meet at Coral St or Otter . .otherwise I'll likely see you out there.

I'll take a look at Coral St. first and then decide.  In any case I will see you out there.  If you want to coordinate a tighter arrangement, send me a PM before 5: today and I will send you my phone # so we can talk and make plan.

How was the swell out of Coral today?

I was out only from 5:15-8:00am but the swell was not bad.  3-5ft or so  with a few bigger.
