Lake Mendo March 26-27

My plans for steelheading on the north coast fell through today as the rivers are all blown out and my ride cancelled.  But I'm still hoping to get up north to test drive an X-Factor with Sean.  Anyone else want to head up there?  It would be nice if someone with a prowler wanted to go so I could test drive it side by side with the X-Factor.  Anyone?  Anyone?

Allen: Looking forward to it.  Just keep in mind Sunday AM is Easter, its egg time.  Otherwise lets fish!

I would be game Allen but this weekend is going to be tough and next weekend I have freinds in town. How does April 9th look, assuming salmon are not close in.

Two weeks out is too far in the future for me to be able to plan.  Let's keep it in mind and touch bases as the time nears.  I'll probably still head up this weekend as I have the weekend free and I really want to give the X-Factor a test drive.  My current thinking is I'll  probably head up to the cabin in Cazadero on Friday night and get up early and drive the 1.5 hours to Mendo Sat morning to fish.  I'll decide Sat afternoon whether to come back
home or to stay up there another day.  If you have Friday evening and Saturday free, it is very doable, and you can be home in time for Sunday eggs.

fellas - keep me in mind (just not this weekend)- I'd like to try the X-Factor as well (and fish Mendo). Just say when.

Joel,  I'm still planning to fish up there on Saturday morning.  The weather forecast is:

Saturday: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain. Highs in the lower to mid 60s.

I'm not yet sure of my logistics as my parents are dropping into town today.  But I'll make it up there one way or the other.  And I'm going to see if my dad wants to come try to catch his first striper.  I'll know later tonight when I see them.  I'll give Sean a call tonight to work the details.  Joel, PM me your phone number.

Sean, are there minnows at your local bait shop?  If not, do you know of a good place to stop on the way up there to get some?

I'd still like to head up.  Just got off the phone with Sean.  The lake is muddy.  He's going to check it out this afternoon and let me know what's up.  If all is good, I'll head up early in the morning for a day trip with my father.  If all is not good, I'll be scrambling for an alternate fishing spot for tomorrow.

hey scawfish is clear lake by you ?i have a cabin on the lake with its own dock april 8-12.me and my wife will both have our kayaks with us and my fishing poles and alot of beer.will mendo still be good fishing then.if so maybe we could hook up to fish and drink some fosters .does any one fish clear lake on there yaks.ill be set up for bass fishing.

Well, it is with great sadness that I report to you all that I decided to pull the plug on this Mendo trip.  I had some relative show up this week and I couldn't head up to Caz tonight.  I wasn't looking forward to a 3 hour drive in the morning for an "off" day on the lake.   And I needed to be back here for dinner before the relative take off Sunday morning.

However, the relatives want some fresh fish.  So I'll duck out of here early in the morning and join the boys at the forebay.  I'll try to get up to Mendo in 2 weeks.

No worries, yestrday was not happening anyways.  I paddled about 7 miles for nada.  Did get a workout though!
