I hit the water late, around 10:00.  Spent some time pulling sea stars off of the wharf for some little pier rats who asked nicely...

Zipped out to around 60' of water off of 32nd Ave.  Hit my special halibut hole (via GPS) and dropped down some squid on a stinger rig and got my sabiki wet.  Got some smelt on the sabiki and some tugging on my squid at the same time.  Once I untied myself from the lines, I unhooked the smelt (big ones!) and pulled up my stinger to find a big ole octopus on the end.  I dropped down two more times for two more octopus!  I need to figure out how to use those things as bait (see post in fishing techniques node).

Left my honey hole for the reef out by SC3 Priv buoy.  It was the house of blues.  Every drop got a blue or, if it got down fast enough, a brown rockfish.  I caught my personal best blue -- a giant monster blue -- after my 4th or 5th rockfish.

Came in around 1:00 to fish the shallows for halibut.  Met Paul (not on the board, white OK malibu), JNTHN, and his buddy (sorry, spaced the name) on the way in.  Gave my spare bait anchovies to the guy who catches all the halibut from the wharf and was home in time to pick my little girl up from school (3:00).

A great day on the water, lots of fish and sealife.  I can't wait to go out again!

It's good to live in paradise, eh Joel?
