Look, we're all just hanging around waiting for the opening  of salmon season, so I figure you've got some time to let me know why someone would put a lock on a pipe leading to a toilet that I saw in a restaurant -see picture.   (While I was taking the pic, I was hoping to hell no one else came in the door.)
And if that problem doesn't occupy you long enough, please explain why I see a half dozen corroded  "U"- locks  locked to bicycle racks in front of stores.

Note it's locked around the coupling, tweakers like to steal whatever metal they can get their grubby hands on.

My 2 cents = leave restroom quickly (keep eyes moving), leave restaraunt quickly (ensure you still have all your stuff), enter vehicle quickly (check if all wheels still attached), depart area quickly with idea of maybe not returning! :smt006

U-locks can be a pain to take with you where ever you go. So if you keep it locked at a place you regularly use it then you do not have to take it with you.

The lock stays attached to the rack forever when the owner forgets about the lock, where it is, or lost the key.
