If you want to break away from powerbait, then you also have to break away from 'catching' at times.  Any new technique requires practice away from your tried and true.  If your interested in catching fish a new way, do it!  Learning is the best part of it to me, not just the bringing home of the fish, so I try to find new techniques to try all the time.  Sure, powerbait is in my box, dont get me wrong!  But it's a backup, or for Sara most of the time  Instead of dough, try a inflated nightcrawler.  Works better if you ask me!    For inspiration on other ways to catch trout, check out Mooch's article here:  http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?page=32  I can tell you for certain, trolling a Shad Rap Rapala has caught all of my biggest trout that I have caught.
