I know what you are saying... but, I don't think the other side of the story matters.  You never, under any circumstance, mess with another man's ride.  I don't care if he is nailing your wife... it is a chickensh@t thing to do.  If a guy is hogging your waves, face him like a man and be done with it.  Don't sneak around messing with his property.  F'ing with a mans car should be punishable by castration... because you aren't a man anyway.

Not that I have strong feelings about it or anything.

Yeah, I would be curious to know if the SUP guy is a dangerous wave hog or if the vandal is just a hot headed localism jerk. Could easily be a bit of both.

In the end these confrontations seem unnecessary if the operators know etiquette and just share a bit. But these days it seems everyone has to feel entitled.

Personally, if a guy came ashore and explained how I was violating the wave etiquette with my actions I'd take it & think about it, and maybe change my behavior.
If he keyed my car instead I'd completely disregard anything he said, get a camera, and charge out twice as often.

Yeah... contact the police directly.  911 is not meant for such things.
