Hell of a fight, but to say it was 400LBS without weighing it?  I do have a question some nmay answer, in a case wear the kayak is the drag, would something like one of those drift chutes aid in wearing out the big monster?

I don't see how it couldn't help wear a fish down, but I could also see it creating one hell of a tangle hazard as the fish changed directions.

It would help, but it would also be a tanglement hazard. I straddle my kayak whn fighting big fish and do not want to get pulled to the islands of Bora Bora. You can feel the difference immediately. Tuna is on my list.
