No biggie but just so you know.

A GWS was seen by a surfer appx 2 miles north of Stinson.

I guess stinson is getting boring to them.

Lets go fishin!

A few years back I was out at Dux and a commie told me he watched a 20fter cruising the mouth that a.m.

The mouth of Bolinas lagoon is the bottleneck for mammal traffic up there and probably gets cruised more than Stinson. If I was into surfing that spot I'd have a couple of good beers before I went in the water

I'm not into hypeforfear but it's good to know about these things if you're shark-shy It also happens to be one of the best local spots for salmon and probably halibut

Yup, those locals all swear theres a whitie that goes in the lagoon on a regular basis. Ive seen one from the beach on Stinson cruisin back and forth like a frat-boy.

I think the GW's are "friendlier" than the locals  :smt045 At least that what Vince and I experienced on our first trip there.....

Some of the locals are too friendly The LSDtoxified beach rats can be way too chatty for my taste especially early in the a.m. when I'm inclined to be unsociable

I got a flare gun from west marine yesterday so in case I bump into the frat boy I can give him a warm welcome

Blue - I think that's a great idea - right now, all I have are hand flares but I'll be upgrading to a flaregun myself. It would fit perfectly on the pouch behind my kayak seat  :smt002

I bought the $39 plastic variety but the guy at west marine couldn't say if the little metal parts would be corrosion resistant or if the thing would fire if you were floating around in the h2o with it

Blue  had mine for 20 years no corrison yet, works fine I shoot my expired flares on 4th of July. Fires when wet just point it down first to get the water out of the barrel, you don't want water plugging your barrel when you fire.

I liked the story in the paper about a surfer at Bolinas that paddled out to the far reef for some surfing action. He cut it short when he saw a 15 to 20 foot GWS in the area. He paddled out again later and ran into another surfer. He told him that he had seen a GWS and hour earlier. The other surfer just nodded and said "Just because you don't see them, doesn't mean they are not here".
