Does anyone get live bait at Berkeley Marina for Halibut along the pier ruins? I want to try it soon and was wondering if anyone had any tips including tide choice, fishing depth, ect. I have the hobie livewell on my outback which should hold a "pier scoop"?

u won't be needing anything more than a dozen anchovies per person, the more u pack in that bait bucket the faster they die. The chovies choke themselves with their tiny scales. When the live bait starts up u can usually go to the bait shop located at k dock and they will sell them to u by the dozen. Also they are open thruout the day and u won't have to get your bait before 9am.

I called last week and they didn't have anchovies. Seems like they don't come in until April.  Also, if you buy a pier scoop by the time you get to your destination, they will all be dead. A dozen to 15 seems to work.   I found that the hobie live bait tank was a waste of time and money.  I found that the bucket method with an exterior pump gives me a better survival rate, and keeps them alive longer.
