Hello all! I finally saved up enough money to buy a new paddle, but I am having trouble choosing one. The first paddles that came to mind, were werner paddles because it seems like almost everyone have those. When I was finally set on buying the werner skagit, I came across the bending branch slice and aqua-bound stingray. The werner paddle is $130 and the other two are $109. Aqua-Bound stingray is slightly lighter (33 oz) than the other the other two (35oz). If you guys know other paddles that are better than these for around the same price, please let me know. Also, I am 5'5" which paddle shaft would work best for me? Sorry, I am still a noob even though I have been kayak fishing for a year now. Thanks in advance!

All three should be great paddles to start with.

I have a higher end Werner and love it paddles like a dream and fatigue does not set in.

Bending Branches and Aqua-bound are pretty much one company for the most part your getting the same paddle.

I had the slice and it was a great paddle but upgraded to a breeze. I don't know your paddling style but if I were you I would probably go with the Aqua Bound because you being on the smaller side it has the least surface area.
AB 561sq cm werner 605 and the BB at 612. Of course it depends upon your padding style more than the brand. I think those are all comparable quality. Have you looked at the BB Angler Scout?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Not a shameless plug for one over the other paddle sellers but, Dan just got a whole wall of paddles in and would probably let you try them out right there at the shop as he is close to the water... Headwaters in Lodi ... I have a Werner and about 18 other paddles... I use the werner :smt007
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Yes, I am looking for a paddle with a fiberglass. Thanks though.

Okay, decided to get the aqua-bound stingray hybrid. It has a carbon fiber shaft and it weights only 32 oz. Thank you guys  :smt006.

Werner will give you more power and a better adjustment. String ray does not have enough power for me. I feel like I just pull it right through the water. Werner is stiffer and has better bite. Just my 2 cents. I should add I am suggesting the Werner tybee.

I saw that one too, but I was not sure if the skagit or the tybee was better. Its looks like the skagit has a larger blade. Which one do you suggest out of those two?

The tybee. It has more power when you stroke. I think the skagit it a little out dated design. I think it's head and shoulders above in this price point.  If I were buying a paddle in this price range this would be my choice.
