I was thinking it would be kinda cool if there was a separate spot in the forums, where there could be threads on specific bodies of water, where the threads would sort alphabetically by the name of the body of water.  Have an Almanor thread, amador, beardsley, collins... so on and so on.  The threads wouldn't be for jaw jacking and what not... more for strick informational purposes.  We could volunteer to write the initial post for a specific body of water that we feel we are sort of "experts" on.  Including driving directions and maps and wikipedia links and what not.  Then others could fill the posts with tips and tricks and general how to type stuff.  It would be a tremendous resource for us as we explore new waters.  It was like when I went to bridgeport and twin lakes earlier this year... I didn't know a damn thing about the place and everyone was really helpful in getting me the 411... but if this existed, it would be in one easy to check place.  It could be handled sorta like the "members only" stuff with a post limit to access the info... anyway, just an idea.

The, Places to Launch and Camp, section houses general informational threads like this.

If you start posting up there I'm sure it'd catch on.

That could work too... I just like the alphabetical idea, as the search function seems to be a bit strange here.  But, something is better than nothing I suppose.

I can sticky a post that has an alphabetical master list of each location and include a link to the post.

Would that work?

Sounds good to me... thanks!  Perhaps we can solicit some guys to submit to it that are our "go to guys" for particular locations... if they want to do so that is.  Clayman for Almanor as an example.  I would be happy to write something up for lake sonoma, though I wouldn't consider myself to be a know-it all on that lake.  Pillsbury as well.

Heck, I would even be happy to do the work in my spare time.  I would be willing to create a master list of all the lakes and rivers and what not.  The sticky could contain the master list, and then be populated with suitable links as they were created.

yep... that is pretty much what I would have started with... LOL.  But since we are N-cka we could eliminate everything in SoCal.  Rivers and fishable tributaries would also need to be included.  Typing up the post is bound to take some time... which is why I offered.

We obviously would have to cross check the regs books and eliminate waters closed to fishing.

That or you could just create a post for the bodies of water that you know.  That oughtn't eliminate alot of research for a place people may never visit.

That was actually more in line with my thinking... a master list is really just a copy paste procedure from wikipedia.  Easy enough... as members wrote articles, the links could be added under the appropriate body of water on the list.  Lets say I wrote up the master list... you could sticky it for me.  I would search for posts that fit the bill as well as ask others to contribute... people could even pm me, and I could use the "modify" option to include their links in my original post.  As far as how I understand things, that should work right?  If it sounds good to you I will get cracking on it... and let you know when its ready.  What do ya say?
