Why not call a retailer and see if they will give you the plastic cover when they unwrap a new yak for their showroom or customer?  I bet you'd be doing them a favor by saving them trash bin space.

Peace & blessings!

+1... another plastic bag option that would be free are mattress bags.  Again you would be doing the retailer a favor by taking their trash!

Depending on the types of boats you have, hatch and/or cockpit covers should be all you need, and are much cheaper than a kayak bag. You don't have to worry about the outside of the boat - you can just hose that off. Assuming you store your boats with the hatch covers off, just sew fitted cloth covers with bungee around the outer edge to keep the critters out. Then make a set for me, please!

I wish it would work...but on two of our cheaper kayaks, the edge isn't shaped enough/in a way that keeps the bungee in place. I did try to see if any place sold pre-made cockpit covers that fit, but alas, I had no luck.

Well, Ok for you, but let's not gloss over that "make me a set" issue!   :smt002

Plus the  Sunbrella fabric will help protect your boat from UV degradation.

Grandma always used 1tsp lemon Oil, 10 drops dishwash soap in a spay bottle full of water seemed to work, I use delta dust in my shack.
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

LOL! Well, I might have bad news for ya.....I called a marine fabric store in my area, and they do sell the Sunbrella fabric...but it's $14 a yard! That might be more pricey that just buying a pre-made one.
