I recall reading about the ugly stik some of you guys use for salmon & halibut, but the search function doesn't seem to be working correctly at the moment so I'm having a hard time tracking down some of these older posts.

I'm assuming its the tiger series rods some of you are using?

I've narrowed it down to the following 2 choices, not sure if these would be ok though.

BWC 2200 70    7'0"    1    C    ML    12-30    1/2-4    8 + Tip
BWC 2201 70    7'0"    1    B    M    20-50    3/4-6    8 + Tip

Any input which model some of you are using for salmon & halibut is appreciated.  Thanks.

I have all of the above but my preferred one is.
2201-2 7 footer medium action 10 to 50 pound rating. And it's a 2 piece.
Just feels better to me for salmon and halibut. And it was used to catch a 50 pound seabass so I know for a fact it's a great rod

If you aren't going to use the rod for trolling I would buy the lightest action possible. Neither one of the fish are known to reef anyone and the soft tip is far more effective for live/dead bait presentation in my experience. A friend of mine slays the halibut on his 7' L action Tiger and WSB as well. He only trolls the meat sticks for Salmon though. When we fish together that is the rod that is bit most often and though it fully loads the chances of breaking it are super slim.

I have a ugly stik tiger lite 7ft. I like it alot. Just like the tiger but smaller, and not as bulky. Might want to look into it.

Get the BWC2021 I own 4 of them and have been using them for salmon for 10 years now.  Works fine for halibut too.

Thanks for your input guys.  I think I will be going with the 2 piece like James suggested.  I have heard from another person a while back that said he preferred the 2 piece over the 1 piece version for the 7ft.
