Reviving old neoprene?

I have some snorkel surveys coming up this spring and a box of old farmer John wetsuits. I tried to put a top on the other day (my size) and almost dislocated my shoulder getting it off. The neoprene seems to have lost all of its elasticity and is really stiff. My question is, is there a way to revive neoprene or does it just wear out and get stiff if not used?
