I get way less snags with a single hook up top.

when I fish hex bars I run the hook out the side hole, less snagging. Not sure if better hookups but I think so. I thought about drilling a side hole on other jigs like gibbs minnows etc. to reduce bottom snagging.

I like the same as EWB and switch alot of mine to this type of rig.
But out of the box I prefer treble.

I feel like I miss a couple more bites with the Butterfly type. I keep hearing the i get too many snags with the trebles and say that could have been a fish.

I like the butterfly style with a single assist hook I tie myself. I add a small dental rubber band to keep it in the strike zone.
Sometimes when the jig drops the assist hook can lift above the jig and you'll get missed strikes.

+1 on the butterfly jigs w/ assist hooks. The sink rate is far better with that style and I LOVE being bit on the retrieve. I make my own assist hooks too using trot/long line stainless j hooks and I won't go back. Less fish toss the hook because they cannot use the weight of the jig as leverage and I feel that I hook up far more often inside the mouth. I can also change out old hooks with ease and double up too if I feel the need. The only draw back is when snagged they are harder to free because the jig isn't swinging back and forth on the snag. I hate trebles on anything and switch them out all my lures including my bass crankbaits. For me there the rigging doesn't effect the snag rate due to the tendency of these lure to find their way into the cracks in the reef or into the holdfasts of the kelp. No help for that. :smt003

These and these.  I like to swap out the stock treble hook for a larger bronze treble hook.  I don't think the single siwash and the assist hook are as effective for hook ups or rattling.  I'll switch over when the tried and true stop working.

Treble hooks FTW.  I'll switch to fine wire trebles or a big single if I'm worried about snagging structure.

Prefer single hooks.
