Since about 5 years ago finding my dad's old kmart fishing reel in the garage of my parents home i have been obsessed with Kmart sold reels. I finally decided to find another on EBay for myself to oil up and clean up to use for the 2006 Rockfish opener.

Also the reason i am buying these used reels is because my wife and i have been dealing with the INS and our immigration attorney and we don't have a lot of extra cash on hand right now so the price is right.

The one my dad had at home was from when he used to go deep sea fishing. It was big and burly but I liked to use it since it was tough and drag was always easy to adjust and real smooth. Sure its a bit heavy but the way it works made me so happy compared to all the other reels i have. granted i never spend all that much on a reel and never knew thee was a diffeence in fresh and saltwater reels. i corroded a few reels and finally figured there was a difference in materials used.

here is my latest find which makes today an extra special day.even though i have to sit here all day at my desk working. my first level wind reel! i think this one is a bit smaller than the one i have been using from my dad so i'll do some cleaning up and oiling and see how it pans out. now i can spend more time cranking than worrying about how the line is getting reeled back on the spindle.

i love ebay and Kmart. btw, the Redwood City Kmart has sold out of their clearance 50lb spectra line for 4.00 a spool. i got some swivels and hooks for cheap though and also got some mooching rigs for .25 each. not bad . bluelight special on aisle......
