I just recently found out about Yelp which is free. I also checked out Angie's list but they want a monthly fee & a sign up fee. What are some other online review sites to check out? This is the time of year that business, heating & cooling, gets real slow so I thought I would look into these sites.

I was going to recommend Angie's List but didn't realize it charged.  That's weak.  :smt013

Sorry, got nothing else for ya.  :smt009

Look forward to what is posted though.

Be careful about yelp...there was an article a while back about how they were "black mailing" businesses with negitive reviews.

I always look at the BBB and then a few other sites (even Google reviews) and then determine the collective outcome.

I believe Yelp has done allot to clean up their act, they now have like a second level where they put reviews based on some criteria that make them suspect, both positive and negative, and those reviews are available to read but they aren't used in their star score.  Like anything online tho Yelp reviews need other reasearch done before putting too much stock in them. IE a coworker asked about a contractor that had worked in my neighborhood, I talked with the contractor, and was given a tour of the home they worked on by the homeowner, everything looked and sounded 5 star to me. Then we Yelped them and found one, 1 star review with what sounded like a well written logical complaint, then I looked into the reviewer's record and found they had put in 18 total reviews, 13 of the 18 were 1 star.

Another site out there that I have no experience with is Diamond Certified  (.org)

The company I work for used to be 'Diamond/Star' certified. The problem was although they do contact homeowners and collect data as to a company's work quality they want a big yearly fee to continue to be listed as 'Diamond/Star' certified. The amount of work that this 'advertising' brought wasn't enough to continue paying for it. Advertising is very expensive.
