It seems it would be different to sail that than a traditional sailboat. Do you have a rudder on your kayak. That would help. I know how to sail, but I'm not sure about that rig.

Hey Mooch,   After you get it figured out,    let's get all the kayak sailors together for a race.  ...

rob, I don't have a rudder but I heard that you can use you paddle to steer. If the paddle does not work out for me, then I'll consider getting a rudder. Although id rather not have a rudder cause it can always malfunction (seen it happen) and it also adds weight to the kayak. - just my opinion

Baitman, I like the idea of a race - although I know I'll get my butt kicked by a hobie. But it still would be nice to do it for a good cause - I'm thinking we should do donations for Big Jim's Team in Training. watcha think?

I've had one for years.
Tried using it on a kayak w/o a rudder.
As someone pointed out it's like having a car with an engine and no steering wheel.
Pull up some basic sailing videos on youtube so you have a basic idea of how wind affects a sail.
After that go out and have a good time.
I did a lot of sail boarding back in the day. You'll be fine with the advice I just gave you.

sounds like a plan Scott - where would be an ideal lake to go to?

I have an extra hobie sailing rudder and think I can make a tiller rudder for you. You have an OK Ultra? Let's go to DV.
