The best way to install a transducer on a kayak

Humminbird works through the hull for what is worth.

I have heard of people using oil in these wet mounts so decided to do some research. Here is an excellent thread on wet bath through hull transducer mounts. Let me know your thoughts as I am getting ready to set up a similar wet mount as skipro

Using oil sounds like a huge mess waiting to happen.  I know someone that used vasoline instead of water for their puck install, which worked great!  Until he had the yak upside on his truck in the hot sun   

I just did an install with a noodle block and vasoline.  Fairly easy to do.  Thought about compass oil but that REALLY seems like a mess waiting to happen.  I'll stick with water and/or vas.

What about anti freeze?

I don't understand why so many you are afraid of water? It's just water. Put it in at the beginning of the day. It works. It's not messy. It gets the job done, and there is no thought process on how to do it or make it better. Oil, Vaseline, antifreeze? I don't understand.
