I took the bait caster off my ugly stick and put it on the Powell rod I won at POS tourney :smt007  Needed another reel, after looking at the prices of bait casters :smt103 my eyes fell upon the lowly ZEBCO 808 (24.95) and I thought , huh. After looking both ways, slipped it into the cart and sidled up to the counter, paid and quickly left. Didn't want to be seen by friends with the thing in possession :smt044 Well so far, this thing will cast a mile or so. the retrieve ratio is low... About 1' per crank. Lots of grunt while fighting but gonna be tired of spinning the handle by the time I boat a fish :smt044 Can't wait to get on the water with this set up. Reel is heavier than I would have guessed looking at it. Possibly should have bought the model 33 instead. Looks like I might really enjoy this thing. Probably won't see me fishing with it though as I probably will run away before being seen with it. Like a moped and other things, fun, just don't be seen with it right :smt044 Will let you know if it goes well, otherwise disregard this post as I won't know what your talking about if asked :smt005 Anyone else recently (or currently) using these types of reels

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

I use one of Zebco's micro models ($4.99 at Sports Authority) on my pvc sabiki. Love it. Let 'em laugh... It builds character.

No shame , got a few 33s left over from training days when my kids were young . Used one a year or so ago and had a great time ! :smt003

I keep one in my truck with a telescoping pole.  If I pass a stream or other body of water, I can toss a few casts and get my 'fix'.  The only real problem is that they don't hold much line.  Maybe 150' max?

A small bag of tackle and this reel on a telescoping pole is like emergency fishing gear to me.

LOL, at first I thought you put it on the Powell....
No prob with the old zebco, but I remember then tearing up line when fighting big fish (and big snags)  I think its because the line is wrapped with a little pin....
as long as it works and you have fun tho  :smt005
Less Mental than before, Still savage AF tho <3
