Thanks for putting that up. A few years ago a young man my son's age (and lifelong friend of the family) took his own life.  My kids were able to see the after effects on the surviving friends and family.  It gave us a great opportunity to talk.

Well anyhow,,,,,thanks again for putting that up.

4 yrs ago on the foresthill bridge... Talked to someone for 20 min before they came back off the edge. that person is still around. Not something to even consider. One of the most selfish things you could ever do. So much sadness after you go.... Someone has to clean up after you, Or find your body... 'nough said...
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

That's a great story. There's a documentary called "The Bridge" and it's about people committing suicide on the GG bridge. it's really sad and it shows actual people jumping so be careful who you watch it with. This movie stills makes sad when i thing about it.

Well isn't the City side the pedestrian side? It only makes sense. Plus, the ocean side just looks scary! I'd jump on the City side, too.

One day my GF and I were stuck in the worst traffic I have ever seen in SF. It took us hours to get down 19th and over the GG. We found out the next day that the traffic was due to one of my highschool friends jumping off of the bridge.

OK Ron,      I'm there !   My daughters want to go, it's a party!      Sounds like you crossed over already.    I've crossed under dozens of times  :smt002          I didn't realize it's a two mile long bridge.  Pretty impressive from any angle,  one incredible feat to build for back then.

Maybe we'll meet the Gaurdian .

We have been all over that area and It is super cool... Don't miss the Pinniped rescue near the visitors center

Let me know when you plan your trip. We would love to join in the fun! (And I know where the nearest Chipotle is) . We made a 3 day weekend of it and camped at the walk in China camp campground (VERY NICE!) and visited the China camp site and store (original family still owns it and they are fun and friendly). Good food and history center Lot's of Movie/Hollywood pictures for the kids (Before you go there, watch the John Wayne and Lauren Bacall film “Blood Alley” It was filmed at China Camp. The village was supposed to be a fishing camp in China. There is also beach area... Cool 2-3 hr diversion or all day sturgeon fishing off the beach (can launch Kayaks)

I suggest you not seek out this documentary if you're even remotely affected by such things--it's just a bit too real for most people.
My flatmate watched it and one of the subjects was someone she'd known...he was not one of the few survivors.

There's at least a couple incidents a month in which emergency services are called out. I've escorted swims in the bay that were delayed because the CG was out searching for jumpers.

On a happier note, millions of people enjoy crossing the bridge. Have fun & dress warmly.

I have numerous pictures of my dad standing on the very TOP of the Golden Gate bridge towers.  He was luckiny enough to get to walk from tower to tower down the cable.

I have a cousin who retured from the G.G. bridge after many years.  Says jumpers were almost daily but the crabbing around the base "motes" is the best.
