Hello to all  :smt006

Started freediving this year, been diving with a few guys from NorCal Underwater Hunters, they suggested I sign in over here as well. I have only been on a kayak twice and I am actually looking to buy my first one, mostly for ab diving and maybe some crabbing. Well I love to fish too so I guess add that to the list lol.

I'm sure you guys are the experts so what am I looking for? Would like to get a tandem in case the misses wants to go paddle around. I was thinking used for my first one, hopefully that would help the checkbook to. Any suggestions?

Welcome Lawdog!!

I have really enjoyed your reports over on NCUH and have also been really impressed with how rapidly you have progressed with your ab diving!!!

Tandems are cool for bringing the missus out, but will be harder for you to lug around by yourself on the days when she can't make it...with that being said I dove off my buddy Randall's (BigFoot on here) tandem at Albion this year and LOVED the stability and space to load up uni, abs and fish.  :smt003

And your non-yak owning buddies will love to jump on board with you as well.

If you ever want to dive down in carmel/monterey let me know and you are welcome to borrow one of my yaks.

Sincerely,

Jim

Thanks Jim, good to see a familiar face....or familiar poster since we havnt met in person lol! Great points about the tandem, ultimately I know this won't be the only kayak I get so I want to get a good intro. one with ability to have two aboard if possible, keep your ears open and I am currently scouring the classified section.

Also, I would absolutely love to dive down that way! I went once with Josh down there and want to go again, start my spearfishing career, maybe we can meet up with ya sometime!!!

Sounds good!

I'll let you know if I see any yaks for sale that you might be interested in.

I would be stoked to dive with you and Josh.

I'll probably only have the chance to dive one more day this year before I head home to New Orleans for Christmas and New Years, but am looking forward to hopefully stellar winter viz when I return in January.
