That's a pretty interesting "How To" article.  I've had some experience with those solvents and even the dyes.  The fumes coming off a project like that will be pretty intense during the brushing on phase.  Those solvents can be harmful but mostly on a low level longterm exposure scenario.  Altho some people can have an adverse reaction just from a hi level short exposure like you'll probably experience doing a project like that.  And don't expect that dye to come off anything it gets on.
